Village Active Performance Wear began in September 2007 as Jake's in The Village, a Life is good® Genuine Neighborhood Shoppe, locally-owned by David and Cassie Schmidt and their son Mason Burchett.  Ever the optimist, Cassie was eager to spread good vibes in Kansas City and to redirect Mason's career path which was meandering dangerously toward professional pizza delivery.

Cassie and Mason had a great time sharing the Life is good brand, but after a while, the two realized that the neighborhood could be served even better by offering a wider variety of lifestyle brands.  The decision required changing the store's name since "Jake" is the face of Life is good, so in June 2011, Jake's in The Village was transformed into Village Active Performance Wear.

Several sought-after, but hard-to-find lines were added to the merchandise mix including prAna, Soybu and Alo.  At Village Active, you'll find an excellent selection of contemporary lifestyle and performance wear for hip, casual women, complemented by a nice assortment for men and kids.  However, we did not forget our loyal Life is good followers.  Village Active still features the largest selection of Life is good in Kansas City.

Village Active is located in the quaint Prairie Village Shops at 71st and Mission in Prairie Village, Kansas.  The Village Shops is truly a unique shopping experience with over 50 shops, restaurants and services nestled in the center of one of the most charming neighborhoods in the Kansas City area.  The Prairie Village Shops sponsor many events throughout the year and is home to the award-winning Prairie Village art show in late spring.
